Aurelia and Black is an online bookshop offering second hand and new books to the whole of the UK. Dedicated to specific values the business is on a mission to help people achieve happiness and success.
Aurelia and Black is a name based on two colours - Black and Gold - that speak of strength, intelligence, responsibility, prestige, wealth and success. These are the outcomes I want for my customers, and we get there together by embracing our values of curiosity, character, consent, trade and science. These are an odd collection of traits suited to people who expect to learn and achieve through intellectual efforts. As a brand and as a community success comes from living out these values.
The names Aurelia and Black are also the names of two characters, not yet fully formed in my mind. I think of Aurelia, who likes to go by her first name, as warm, vivacious, sharp and perceptive. Stuffy Mr Black is responsible and disciplined, but driven by passions that he holds back slightly but acts out fully. Together, they explore remote civilisations, hacking through the jungle to uncover new and mysterious things. Perhaps, one day, these characters will come to life. Perhaps they already are, we'll see.
The Team
Aurelia and Black was founded by Simon Gibbs in 2021 after coming into a large quantity of books by way of an inheritance - thank you Brian - and started as way to turn a source of sadness into something useful. Also being interested in how the world is, after living through 2001, 2016, and 2020, I want to share the books that are a source of energy for me and explore new literature with you.
